Photo's are art of the moment. For a moment you can capture, set the scene, invoke a certain bit of emotion. I take photos for memory, to stretch my creativity, and to enjoy the details of daily life.
I have a shit ton of photos, and I've deleted/lost many due to time or circumstance. Some for better or worse whatever memory held at that place and time. Photo's can be fabricated, remade, or changed post-process. I love the creative process of creating something-the end result of capturing whatever emotion simmering below, or whatever time and earth brewed on a particular day.
